What does London’s Life Sciences Sector Want From the Next Mayor?
What does London’s Life Sciences Sector want from the next Mayor?
The first London Mayor, Ken Livingstone, used the London Development Agency as a delivery vehicle to create “BioLondon” as a brand and activity to promote London’s strengths and coordinate the creation of incubator space and grow-on space in the Capital. Latterly, Mayor Boris Johnson has overseen significant change in governance of London’s economic development landscape, yet the desire to promote London along with its neighbours Cambridge and Oxford, has remained and is now the remit of MedCity
With a new Mayor to be elected in London in May 2016 elections, this evening’s session will see a panel of experts debate what should be top of the Life Science sector’s wish list for the incoming Mayor of London. It is expected the wish list will contain one or more of the following:
•More commercial R&D space
•An investment fund for Life Sciences in London
•Tax incentives to encourage company growth
•Coordinated promotion of London’s Life Sciences offer with supporting account management
